Everyone can take advantage of our services, whether insured or self-paying.
UME Diagnostic Centres are recognised by the major UK insurance companies and most medical insurance policies will cover your treatment with us, however do check with your insurance provider before undergoing any treatment.
How to book
To book a scan we will need a referral letter from your Consultant, GP, Chiropractor, Osteopath or Physiotherapist. This can be faxed, posted or emailed to the UME Diagnostic Centre of your choice. Self referrals are accepted on some of our health screening procedures, however we recommend you consult your doctor prior to your visit.
Once you have a referral letter you can contact the centre to arrange a convenient appointment time. We will then write to you confirming your appointment, enclosing details of how to prepare for your scan and directions to the centre.
How to pay
If you have private medical cover please contact your provider prior to making an appointment to ensure you are covered for that procedure. Your provider will usually issue you with a claim or authorisation number. Please bring this and your membership number to your appointment.
If your examination is being paid for by a third party (ie. a solicitor or foreign embassy) please ensure they issue you with a letter of guarantee, please bring this with you to your appointment.
If you are choosing to pay for your treatment yourself you can do so by credit card or debit card at the time of your appointment. We do not accept cash payments.
Cancellations
A credit / debit card will be required to secure all bookings (even if your treatment is being funded by medical insurance or any other third party) however, payment or a cancellation fee will only be taken from your card if:
- you are registered as self paying and do not settle your account at the end of your appointment;
- you cancel with less than 24 hours notice;
- you do not attend the appointment;
- you request to end the scan prior to completion;
- your insurer or other third party payer does not fully reimburse us for the cost of your treatment.
Please note that insurance companies will not pay cancellation charges.
