Pelvic screening

Pelvic ultrasound is used to detect many disorders of the female reproductive organs, including ovaries and uterus.
Often those disorders may be benign and therefore not life threatening. However, if not treated it may cause significant discomfort or pain, e.g. ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids or polyps.
In case of malignancy (cancerous tumors) early diagnosis increases the likelihood of long-term survival.
The examination is performed both externally and internally for optimum results and is completely painless.
Pelvic ultrasound is always a good supplement to your regular, annual gynecological check-up and is certainly indicated if you experience:
- Pelvic pain or discomfort.
- Unusual vaginal bleeding or discharge.
- Family history of ovarian cancer.
- Irregular or no menstrual periods.
