What is computed tomography?

Computed tomography (also known as CT or CAT scan) is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses a combination of low-dose x-rays and computer technology to produce cross-sectional images of the body. These detailed images help diagnose medical conditions that may not be seen with conventional x-rays. CT is an excellent diagnostic tool for neurology, colonography, orthopaedic, oncological, cardiac, angiography and also dental examinations.

UME Diagnostics is equipped with the world’s first high-definition, low-dose CT scanner from GE which delivers up to 33% improved resolution across the entire body and dramatically cuts radiation exposure to your patients by up to 50% compared to other existing CT technology.

CT also provides an excellent alternative to some interventional procedures ie colonoscopy examinations, a virtual colonoscopy is minimally invasive and takes just minutes to perform, unlike colonoscopy, which can take up to half an hour.
